The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) describes the negotiated plan that the two or more people agreed in the mediation session(s). It is useful because it allows you try out your plan without having it formally set down by the court as an order, and, with mutual consent, the MOU can be changed or adjusted. You can turn it to legally binding by taking it to a lawyer. Legally Privileged!
